OUR GREENHOUSE GROWN LILIES FOR CUT FLOWERS

LA Lily, a cross between an Asiatic and a Trumpet Lily

For this season, June through September, we expect to harvest Oriental lilies, LO lilies (cross between Longifor and Oriental lilies) and LA lilies (cross between an Trumpet and Asiatic Lily) from our greenhouse plantings. The color range of the Orientals are white, pink and red with variations in between.  Field grown Asiatic and Orientals will be ready for cutting July and August, in a variety of colors.

Variety oriental "Dizzy"

Asiatic, Oriental and Hybrid Lilies.

The prime stage of maturity to choose your lilies is when one or a few flowers are in bloom. All or most of the buds will open at this stage. The best way to transport lilies is with the stems in a pail of water. Some of our customers buy the lilies in tight bud for easy transportation and longer lasting lilies.

We remove the pollen from the flowering Orientals and Hybrid lilies because this will increase the shelf life of your flowers. We recommend you continue this practice at home.

If you get pollen on your clothing or household linens, do not brush off with your hands or moisten the cloth, this will set the stain. Let the pollen dry, then brush it away or use sticky tape. If some stain remains, place the item in direct sunlight for a few hours. It's best to brush and wash after the pollen has dried, otherwise it will stain.
